Places I've Stayed in England
London
Astor Museum Inn (hostel) clean, comfortable beds with linen and duvet, light breakfast included (roll, jam, coffee & tea), individual locker drawers under bunks (bring a padlock), near British Museum and tube stops

Garden View Hotel (hotel) Not the best place I've stayed. The mattress was horrible and the in room bathroom was not very nice. The room did have an electric teapot with teabags and creamer, a television, an alarm clock, fresh towels and linens, and free breakfast that I didn't get to try because I had to leave early to go to the airport.

Lion Court Hotel (hostel), 26 Princes Square, Bayswater, London W2 4NJ, Tel 0044 20 7727 5807.  This hostel is very cheap and you'll find out why if you stay there (don't!). The place is run down and feels rather slimy. The shower was a mere trickle down the wall, the rooms are very cold in the fall/winter, and the common room/kitchen leaves a lot to be desired.

St. Christopher's Southwark (hostel) clean, beds with linen and duvet, light breakfast (toast, jam, cereal, coffee & tea), nice "chill out" room, near London Bridge, Tower Bridge, and tube stops

Bath
Bath Backpackers (hostel) The friendly staff , lively guests, and highly decorated walls of this hostel may not be to everyone's taste, but I found it to be a fun place to stay for a couple of days while I explored the beautiful city of Bath. The hostel is close to the train station, has a guest kitchen, and cozy common room with satellite television.

Cambridge
YHA Cambridge (hostel) clean, comfortable, lockers in room, near train station and short walk from city center

Chester
YHA Chester (hostel) clean and quiet, over a mile from the train station, you are better off trying out Chester Backpackers which is closer to the train station and is also cheaper.

The Lakes District
YHA Ambleside (hostel) very clean rooms, bunks have reading light, large guest kitchen, good base for exploring the Lakes District, hostel picks up from the train station

Lyme Regis
Rotherfield Guest House (bed and breakfast), View Road Lyme Regis, Dorset, DT73AA, +44 (0)1297 445585.  The friendly owners provide clean comfortable rooms and a full English breakfast. Short walk to town center and beach.

Penzance
Penzance Backpackers (hostel) very friendly staff and nice comfortable accommodations and facilities

Salisbury
YHA Salisbury (hostel) Clean, comfortable, and quiet. A good place to stay if you want to go to Stonehenge and Avebury.

Stratford-upon-Avon
